Life is filled with trials and tribulations, and sometimes we find ourselves in situations where we feel like we’re up to our neck in crocodiles; overwhelmed by troubles and challenges so big they seem insurmountable. It’s at these times that it can be hard to be rational, let alone hopeful, optimistic or even spiritually inspired.

In these moments, it is important to remember that every situation we encounter serves a purpose beyond what our human minds can comprehend. Just as the crocodiles symbolise trouble, they also represent strength, resilience, and survival. It is said that, crocodiles share a heritage with dinosaurs as part of a group known as archosaurs (“ruling reptiles”), who date back to the Early Triassic period, so, in order to survive they adapted to their circumstances and developed accordingly, which may be what you need to do as well.

Our spiritual journey may bring us face-to-face with our own “crocodiles”. These challenges aren’t meant to break us but are instead divine tools meant to shape us into stronger, wiser beings.

When you’re surrounded by “crocodiles” – i.e. when you’re swamped with problems – it’s hard not to panic. It’s hard not to let fear consume you. It’s during these times that we must press into our spirituality even more firmly. We must seek the divine wisdom within, remembering that every challenge has a spiritual reason behind it – a lesson that will ultimately contribute to your soul’s growth and evolution.

In the grand tapestry of life, every thread has its purpose – even those threads woven through the most challenging circumstances. Embrace these moments as opportunities for growth rather than obstacles intended to hinder your progress.

So when you find yourself “up to your neck in crocodiles”, don’t despair. Instead, look for the lesson, learn it and move on. Seek solace in your faith and draw strength from it. Remember that just as the mighty crocodile emerged victorious from an era long past, so too will you emerge from your trials stronger and more resilient.

Know that these crocodiles of life are not there to eat you alive, but to teach you how to survive, how to be resilient, and how to keep faith even when the waters are turbulent. Stand firm in your spirituality, for it is the guiding light amidst the darkness. However, if you let them consume you … they will!
